The Grandes-Fourches cycling network probably is the most complete in all of the province of Québec! The network is intelligently built around the many infrastructures in order to be fully integrated in the urban and near-urban environment already in place.
Cycling trails, marked roads and cycling bands are linked to create a 125 km network around Sherbrooke divided into 6 distinct parts throughout Sherbrooke, the Canton de Hatley, North Hatley and 3 drainage basins. The network follows the three rivers encircling Sherbrooke, the Saint-François River, the Magog River and the Massawipi River, two lakes, a myriad of brooks and six hydroelectric dams.
Along the paths, you will be surrounded by the remains of another era. The rich history of the Eastern Townships’ colonization has defined Sherbrooke in a very distinctive way. An impressive architectural heritage, covered bridges and copper mines no longer in use are open to visitors, is a testimony to Sherbrooke’s bicultural community, unique in Québec.

Please note that a municipal bylaw states that it is mandatory for anyone younger than 18 years old to wear a helmet while on a bicycle on the entirety of the Sherbrooke territory, including the urban promenade, the multifunctional trails and the cycling paths. Also note that the person in charge of a minor has the obligation to ensure that the minor respects this regulation. Anyone caught contravening this bylaw could be fined.
